What practical experience will they gain?
Velocity students will receive a variety of practical experiences while at the school. Students will take classes in ministry development (ie. counseling, leadership development, etc.) as well as personal development (ie. prayer and fasting, computers, life lessons, etc.). Students will also learn fun activities such as dance, sports, and how to engage themselves properly in relevant settings. One of the greatest opportunities that the students will receive is living in a host home. This opportunity will allow students to grow in respect and responsibility through the commitment they make to their host home.

How will their host home be chosen? Will I be able to visit my student while they are there?
Each host home has been interviewed and selected based on the family environment, dedication to the church of the family, and the needs of the students. We will place each student in the host home that the Velocity staff feels is appropriate for all parties involved. Each student and parent will have a chance to connect with their host home before and during orientation weekend. If a student is not comfortable with their host home, then the Velocity staff can move the student to another home.

Are the curfews that will be expected of my child?
Velocity students must be at their host homes by 11:00pm on weeknights (Sunday-Thursday) unless special permission has been granted by Velocity staff. The curfew for Friday and Saturday nights is 12:00am.

Is the degree they will receive accredited through an organization other than Seacoast?
We currently working on a partnership with Columbia International University (CIU), where students can pay for additional college credits. Each student will also receive 30 credits through Christian Leadership University for each year.

Since Seacoast has more than one campuses, will my child intern at more than one location? Will their place of residence change?
If students come from a previous campus that is in the Charleston, SC, area then the student will have the choice to minister at that campus on the weekends and selected times throughout the week or the student can choose to be in ministry at the Long Point Campus. There will be times, throughout the year, that students will make visits to various campuses so that they can have exposure to the model and mission of Seacoast Church.

Will I receive details concerning their mission trips? Will I be able to contact my child during their trip?
Each parent will receive a packet at orientation describing the trips that each student will be taking. For larger trips, like mission trips, parents will be sent information one month prior. The information will have everything parents will need to know what is happening. In case of emergencies while on trips, parents will be able to contact the church who can then contact the Velocity staff.

Will my child be assigned a same-sex advisor to help with any personal problems that may arise?
Each student will have three staff members overseeing them while in the program. The staff members consist of one woman and two men. In addition to the staff, each student will have a personal, same-sex mentor who will be meeting with the student on a regular basis and helping them grow in all areas of life.

If my child does not finish the program, is any tuition refundable?
Refunds may occur when the student makes an approved withdrawal from the program. To get proper approval, the student must be in joint agreement with the pastor. Expulsion because of disciplinary problems will not be considered grounds for a refund. Refunds are effective as of the end of the month in which the student is withdrawing. Tuition refunds will be allowed on a pro-rated basis.

Are there minimum grade requirements for course completion?
Students will be tested on the materials they are given throughout the year and they must meet minimum requirements for each course. Students will be given the requirement within each course.
